Luke Rowell aka DISASTERADIO je novozelandska underground glasbena legenda. Glasbo v slogu synth-popa 80-ih je začel pisati pred dobrimi desetimi leti, od kaset do svojega zadnjega albuma Vision. Novozelandska revija Real Groove je album Vision ocenila za najboljši novozelandski album v letu 2007.

DISASTERADIO je s svojim edinstvenim šovom že večkrat prepotoval Novo Zelandijo, leta 2008 pa so ga končno opazili tudi na drugi strani luže, ko ga je legendarni nemški producent Hans Nieswandt povabil na berlinski Worldtronics. Promotorji in oboževalci so po njegovi turneji po Franciji, Nemčiji in Veliki Britaniji leta 2008 hoteli več, zato se DISASTERADIO vrača z evropsko turnejo, na kateri bo predstavil album Vision.

Zvok DISASTERADIA predalčkajo kot elektro-rock oz. digitalni pop, nekateri pa ga opisujejo kot mešanico Dana Deacona (www.myspace.com/dandeacon) in Kraftwerkov.

Luke Rowell, aka Disasteradio, is an underground music legend in New Zealand. He began writing 80s-inspired synth pop a decade ago and has released seven albums, from a hand packaged cassette through to his latest album ‘Visions’. Leading critical NZ music magazine Real Groove ranked ‘Visions’ the best NZ album of the year in 2007.

Disasteradio has toured his unique show the length of New Zealand numerous times and in 2008 finally got noticed overseas when legendary German producer Hans Nieswandt invited him to perform at Worldtronics in Berlin. Promoters and fans demanded more after an introductory tour of France, Germany and the UK in ‘08, so now Disasteradio is back for an in-depth summer ‘09 tour of Europe for the northern hemisphere release of Visions!

DISASTERADIO’s sound is ‘electro-rock’ or ‘digital pop’ and has been described as a cross between Dan Deacon and Kraftwerk. Although a live performance is certainly the best way to enjoy Disasteradio, his latest album ‘Visions’ has only received praise from critics. Vice Magazine gave it 9/10 and claimed’Visions’ was “the only good piece of music to come out of Wellington, ever. This album is cool”. NZ’s nationwide gig-guide, Groove Guide announced “Partiers are rejoicing up and down the country now that Disasteradio has finally released Visions”.

Coming straight from a mad-cap summer in New Zealand which saw Disasteradio headline Camp A Low Hum (New Zealand’s only ‘indie’ music festival) and play the 1am slot on the Futureshock stage of NZ’s largest (20,000+) New Years Eve party Rhythm and Vines. Recent club shows with Girl Talk, Dan Deacon, High Places and Gudrun Gut, plus his first US tour in April ’09 means it’s time to continue working on his tan and show Europe how to party like they do down-under.
